Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Chef Pip ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who use our cooking app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Chef Pip.
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:
- Account Information: Email address and password (encrypted) for account creation. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and name (if you choose to share it) from these services.
- Profile Information: Nickname, age range, dietary preferences, and favorite cuisines
- Usage Data: Recipes viewed, cooking sessions completed, and badges earned
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting
- Photos (optional): If you use the photo scan feature, the photo you take is sent to our AI provider to identify the ingredients. Photos are used only to generate your recipe and are not stored or used for advertising.
- Advertising Identifiers (with your consent): To measure how well our own app-install campaigns perform, the app may collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, only after you allow tracking in the Apple permission dialog; GAID on Android) together with basic app events such as installs and launches. See "Ad Campaign Measurement" below.
2. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Chef Pip is designed for users aged 4 and up, with parental supervision recommended for younger children. We take special care to protect children's privacy:
- We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
- We do not use children's data for targeted advertising
- Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time
- We do not share children's personal information with third parties except as necessary to provide the service
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide personalized recipe recommendations based on preferences
- Track cooking progress and award achievements
- Improve our app and develop new features
- Send important service notifications (with parental consent)
- Ensure app security and prevent misuse
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is securely stored using industry-standard encryption:
- All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- We use Supabase, a secure cloud database service
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- We regularly audit our security practices
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Apple Sign-In: Optional authentication method. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your email address (which you may choose to hide) and your name (optional). This information is used solely for creating and managing your Chef Pip account.
- Google Sign-In: Optional authentication method. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and profile name. This information is used solely for creating and managing your Chef Pip account.
- Supabase: Authentication and database (EU-compliant)
- RevenueCat: Subscription management
- Sentry: Error tracking and crash reporting (anonymized device info only)
- Google Gemini AI: AI-powered recipe generation. The ingredients you type and any photos you scan are sent to Gemini to create recipes. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifiers.
- TikTok App Events SDK: Ad campaign measurement only (see the section below). TikTok may receive your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device information, and app events such as installs, launches, and purchases. TikTok's use of this data is described in the TikTok Privacy Policy.
Important: Data received from Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In is used exclusively for authentication purposes. We do not use this data for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose beyond providing you access to your Chef Pip account.
6. Advertising-Free Experience
Chef Pip is completely ad-free. We do not display any advertisements in the app. Our revenue model is based entirely on optional premium subscriptions and credit pack purchases, ensuring a clean, distraction-free cooking experience for all users, especially children.
7. Ad Campaign Measurement
While the app shows no advertisements, we do advertise Chef Pip itself on platforms such as TikTok. To understand whether those campaigns work (for example, how many people installed the app after seeing our ad), we use the TikTok App Events SDK to share limited data with TikTok: your device's advertising identifier, IP address, basic device information, and app events such as installs, launches, and purchases. This data is used for advertising measurement only. We never sell your data, and we never share your name, email address, photos, recipes, or anything you type in the app.
- On iOS: the advertising identifier (IDFA) is only shared if you tap "Allow" in Apple's tracking permission dialog. If you decline, campaign measurement falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork, which cannot identify you or your device.
- Opting out: on iOS, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and disable tracking for Chef Pip. On Android, you can delete or reset your advertising ID under Settings > Google > Ads.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing communications
9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your data is kept for 30 days (in case you change your mind)
- After 30 days, all personal data is permanently deleted
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or via email.
